30 Years of Dedication Contributing to Hong Kong’s Industrial Growth Through Technological Innovation
Dr. Ng Chi Ho, Founder, Chairman and Chairman of the Corporate Governance Committee of SUGA International Holdings Limited (“SUGA” or the “Group”) (stock code: 912), a leading electronics total solutions provider that also operates a smart pet accessories and pet food business, has received the Industrialist of the Year Award 2025 from the Federation of Hong Kong Industries (FHKI) in recognition of his outstanding contributions to Hong Kong’s industrial sector and society over the years.
Dr. Ng graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong with a major in physics. He also holds a Master of Philosophy degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Hong Kong, and an Honorary Doctor of Engineering Degree from Lincoln University, USA. Dr. Ng initially taught electronic engineering at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. However, driven by the desire to apply theoretical knowledge to practical production, and optimistic about the opportunities arising from Hong Kong’s manufacturing industry transformation in the 1990s, he resolutely entered the industrial sector. In 1991, he founded Suga Electronics Limited. Over more than 30 years, the Company has grown from a small workshop with only seven employees into a diversified business group with over 2,000 staff members. The Company’s operations now span electronics manufacturing, research and design, and pet products, making it a model of industrial transformation in Hong Kong. Additionally, motivated by a commitment to “developing high-quality electronic products”, Dr. Ng ventured into the Japanese market, establishing SUGA as a supplier to several renowned Japanese companies, thereby solidifying the Group’s international presence.
Over the past three decades of development, Dr. Ng has led the Group to continuous growth and expansion, culminating in its listing on the Main Board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 2002. Throughout the journey, whether facing opportunities or challenges, Dr. Ng has consistently upheld integrity in business to earn customer trust and ensure the Group’s steady progress and growth. In 2011, the Group acquired HappyPaws and diversified into the pet food market. From 2014 to 2016, the Group established a High-tech Industrial Park in Dongguan; in 2017, the Group set up offices in Ireland, the US and Japan to expand its overseas markets. In 2018, SUGA expanded into Vietnam, and in 2020, it constructed a new factory in the Bac Ninh industrial park in Vietnam. In 2021, the Group established a joint laboratory with the Department of Electrical Engineering at the City University of Hong Kong to facilitate the development of innovative technologies. These initiatives demonstrate SUGA’s ongoing contribution to the development of Hong Kong’s industrial sector, particularly in promoting industrial upgrading and technological innovation.
Dr. Ng firmly believes that integrity is the foundation of any company, requiring it to uphold its commitments to customers and provide high-quality products. At the end of last year, SUGA unveiled its new logo and tagline, “It Matters”, further highlighting the Group’s unwavering commitment to innovation, attention to detail, and excellence, aligning with Dr. Ng’s longstanding business philosophy.

This accolade not only serves as personal encouragement, but is also a recognition of the collective efforts of all our colleagues at SUGA over the past 30 years. I hope to use this award to send a positive message to the Group, to the younger generation, and to society as a whole. I believe that as long as our industry works together, seizes the enormous opportunities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and makes good use of Hong Kong’s unique advantages in scientific research, finance and international connectivity, Hong Kong’s industrial sector can surely reach new heights and make even greater contributions to Hong Kong and the country.”
The Industrialist of the Year Award was launched in 2002 by the Federation of Hong Kong Industries. This Award is conferred on one industrialist each year for his or her distinguished contributions to Hong Kong’s industries, economy and community, and nomination is open to industrialists of all ages. The winner shall be a role model, passing-the-torch and forward-thinking spirit for modern industrialists. The Award is known for its strict and thorough judging process. Each year, the panel consists of renowned leaders from the government, academia, and industry. The Award not only gives recognition to the awardees’ achievements, but also highlights the industrial sector’s commitment to Hong Kong’s continuing prosperity. In the years to come, the Award will continue to convey the spirit of “Reinventing Hong Kong Industries” and to enable Hong Kong’s industrial development to reach new heights.
